Wendy Keenan Myers ’92, an accomplished real estate investor and CEO of Ask the Landlady, recently published two books: Lessons from the Landlady: How to Avoid Mistakes and Be Successful in Real Estate and Lift Your Family Out of Chaos: How to Live With, Schedule and Organize Your ADHA Family of Collectors, Hoarders and Procrastinators.
Myers, who has been a landlady for more than 20 years, started with a single duplex and amassed 400 units with $2.5 million of revenue annually. She has grown her portfolio to include multi-family complexes with many creative financing options and has purchased properties outside of her home region. She talks all things rental on her YouTube channel, Ask the Landlady — providing tips and tricks for everyone who rents out places to live and work. She is the owner and operator of Mitchem Group Apartments in Marietta, Belpre and Canton, Ohio. Lessons from the Landlady is her first book.
Lift Your Family Out of Chaos “outlines a gentle perspective on how to gain buy-in from the family when tackling the monumental goal of streamlining your house organization and creating systems of time management and efficiency that even your most ADHD family members can somewhat follow.”
Both books are available on Amazon.com.

James Kershner ’70 recently published a spiritual memoir, Becoming Peacemaker. It recounts his progress from a very unhappy childhood to a very happy adulthood including ordination as part of a Buddhist order founded by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. It includes a series of short anecdotes, including a chapter at Marietta College. Other chapters chronicle his overcoming drug and alcohol abuse and finding his true self through meditation. Former editor of the Marcolian, Kershner is also the author of The Elements of News Writing. Both books are available on Amazon.

Corey Hosfeld ’00, a full-time graphic designer for the Certified Angus Beef® Brand in Wooster, Ohio, published his second book, Goats Chewing Gum.
In his own words, “THE SITUATION: I totally got fired from my job in marketing. Forming a bubble gum focus group with my Grandparents’ goats seemed like a good idea at the time. The corporate setting wasn’t prepared for it, so we got the boot. At that point, I decided to form an LLC and take those goats on the road. I thought to myself, what could go wrong?
It’s a fictional story about a mobile bubble gum focus group. Goat shenanigans unfold as they travel through Ohio and Pennsylvania. Eventually, they get invited to the biggest bubble gum competition ever, located in Las Vegas. It’s a 154-page story full of humor and digital illustrations.”
Hosfeld also enjoys doing handyman jobs on the side and lives in Ashland, Ohio with his loving wife, son and daughter. Both books can be found at GoatsChewingGum.com.

Jason Nulton, a faculty member and coordinator in the McDonough Center for Leadership & Business, recently co-authored a book, Uncommon Cargo: Sacrifice. Survival. Hope. with Eva Nguyen Whitfield. The book, available through Amazon.com, is based on the true story of Nguyen’s family’s harrowing escape to South Vietnam in 1975.
“Knowing his family could face imprisonment or execution if they stayed, Chau Tan Nguyen, a 40-year-old lieutenant colonel and C-130 pilot in the South Vietnamese Air Force, hatched a daring plan to save his family — his wife, Mai, their 3-year-old daughter Truc, 18-month-old son Trung, Mai's parents, Hong and Dat, and Mai's three younger brothers, Son, Dzung, and Tuan.”
Nulton, who is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and logistics officer, has co-authored two books, his second book — To War with the 4th: A Century of Frontline Combat with the U.S. 4th Infantry Division, from the Argonne to the Ardennes to Afghanistan, is also available at Amazon.com.

Alpha Sigma Phi honors 163rd anniversary of charter
During Homecoming 2023, the Delta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi celebrated its 163rd Anniversary.
Jay Leiendecker ’71 writes, “The Delta Chapter of the Sig House is one of America’s oldest Fraternities — founded at Marietta in 1860. It is the oldest surviving chapter of the Alpha Sigma Phi National Fraternity. Our Delta Chapter was re-chartered in 2010; after a 19-year hiatus, as a result of the efforts of Brother Dean Haine ’62. Dean also worked with classmates from the early 1960s to create a Delta Alumni Association. Our charter is to foster opportunities to meet with old friends, and renew acquaintances, as well as support the Colleges active Brothers. Dean passed away in March of 2023, and the Alumni Association chose to commemorate Dean’s efforts with a permanent plaque in the Sig House on Fourth Street.” In the photo from October 20, 2023, in the Sig House is Dean’s widow, Susie Haine, with Delta alumni Dale Wartluft ’63, Chris Warner ’76, and Keith Tuten ’77.

Frank Lattanzi ’78 (Lambda Chi Alpha) shared this special, proud-parent moment: “My son Aaron ’10, his brother Joshua (not a MC graduate) and I host a podcast called “Small Hall Baseball.” The podcast, which began in February 2023, is generally done weekly (during the baseball offseason we have been doing it every other week). It focuses on the players who have been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. We began with the inaugural class of 1936; every podcast deals with one Hall of Famer and we offer our opinions on whether the man being discussed should be in the Hall of Fame. We also discuss a national topic, remember an event that occurred in the past (This Week in Baseball) and each one of us concludes the podcast with a parting shot. The podcast is available at various podcast locations (Spotify, Apple, etc.). I am especially proud of Aaron. He is not only a co-host, but he also produces and edits the podcast.”
