Jim Carillon ’78 provided an update from his home in Fairview, North Carolina. “My wife and I recently fostered two infant sons from birth until they transitioned to permanent adoptive families. We fostered one during the start of COVID for 18 months, the second for 10 months and now continue as honorary grandparents to both families. This month I published my second book of poems called 'Centered.' My poetry uses simple day-to-day language to describe relationships and life experiences. 'Centered' is named for how central our fostering experiences became in our lives. I devote an entire chapter of poems in this book to a chronological journey with our second foster son, from meeting him in the NICU through his transition with his new family. Other chapters focus on other relationships in my life, on life lessons learned through social justice volunteering, and on my writing and other day-to-day joys. You can order 'Centered' from Amazon.com."
