Message from the President

All of the members of our Marietta College community are working to ensure the success of the College. When I prepare to speak about our action-driven plan for the future, I frequently turn to the College’s 189-year history as a source of inspiration. What I see clearly is that, at every turn, the College’s success has been built by its people and has depended upon our continued ability to adapt.
Our future success will require continuous adaptation. That future starts now. We call it Marietta Forward, our strategic plan that is both exciting and practical, interesting and simple, grounded and flexible. While Marietta Forward places — and keeps — every Marietta College student at the center of our educational enterprise, all of the initiatives within it support our students and enhance the likelihood of their educational success and personal growth — today.
Marietta Forward focuses on the quality (content, structure, relevance, and delivery) of the academic program and the quality of support offered to Marietta students across their college experience. Marietta Forward preserves our core commitment to a transformational education, aligns our offerings with students’ evolving interests and ambitions, and diversifies our revenue streams by expanding our offerings into new markets.
I encourage you to become familiar with this plan that will guide our efforts over the next four years. It is both ambitious and intentionally practical. It is also measurable. We will assess what is working (or not) in real time, make timely adjustments to assure ever greater success, and reinvest resources into activities and programs that will have an ever-greater impact. It is a flexible plan in times that require continuous adaptation.
Marietta Forward opens the next chapter of our College’s success with the story of our students’ achievements. What could be better than that?
Best,

Margaret L. Drugovich, DM
President
